Moderation & Banning Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-10
This Policy explains who moderates, how we enforce the rules and what happens when someone breaks them. It aims to be fair, predictable and proportionate.
Notice: this is a template document
This text is a standard template provided by the Cool platform to help communities and creators get started. It reflects the spirit of Brazil's LGPD (Law No. 13,709/2018) and the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679), but it does NOT constitute legal advice. Before publishing, review it with a qualified lawyer to tailor it to your business, country and way of operating.
Who moderates
Each community is moderated first by its owner and the administrators they appoint. Above that, Cool may act directly in cases that break the law, these Terms or the Code of Conduct across the platform. Community decisions follow the owner's rules; platform decisions follow this Policy.
The moderation ladder
For most violations, we follow a progressive ladder:
1) Warning — notice about the conduct and how to fix it.
2) Mute — temporary restriction on posting or commenting.
3) Suspension — temporary loss of access to the community.
4) Ban — permanent removal.
Severity and repeat behavior determine which step we start at. Not every violation goes through every step.
Immediate-ban offenses
Some conduct skips the ladder and leads to an immediate ban: child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence, fraud or financial scams, account hacking, spreading malware, and severe, repeated harassment. In these cases we may also preserve evidence and contact the authorities.
Appeals and review
If you believe a decision was unfair, you may appeal by replying to the notice you received or writing to privacidade@cool.app within 30 days. We will review the case and respond. Decisions may be upheld, reduced or reversed based on the review.
Data of banned users
When we ban an account, we may retain the minimum data needed to prevent repeat behavior (for example, to stop the account from being recreated) and to meet legal obligations, for the period permitted by law. Removed content may be preserved when required for investigation or legal defense. Processing follows the Privacy Policy.
Removal of communities
Cool reserves the right to suspend or remove entire communities that systematically break the law, these Terms or the Code of Conduct, or that pose a risk to users or third parties. Where possible, we notify the owner first and give a chance to fix the issue; in serious cases, removal may be immediate.
